Rainbows - Bright Shades EP [WTCLRS003]

That is quite weird for me to talk about the EP of my best friend Clément. I’m supposed to tell you how good it is without seeming dishonest with you.
But hey, I’m running White Colours. I’m the boss. I love what we built together so if I agreed with him to release this EP, it means that I really enjoyed it!

Now, let me talk about the tracks:
Light Ways, the introduction is the best glimpse of what the EP contains : contorted samples and melodies. That’s it.
Anchorage, AK is a total other view you can have on Rainbows music. It’s progressive. You can’t really know when it’s gonna end. Then, it’s trippy. It slowly makes you travel in a parallel dimension where time doesn’t exist anymore. To be honest, I think it’s the first track I would listen to next time I get high.
“Feeded sounds” could be the name of the third track, Chillin’. Well… I don’t really know what methaphor I can use to make you understand how I perceive this tune. You should ask Rainbows what the hell happened in his fucked up mind when he made this track. I liked it.
When he made me listen to Self-Definition, I fell in love for it. I just said “Woah buddy : you HAVE TO make a whole EP!” That’s how the EP was born folks! This is definitely  my favourite track. I love the groove, the minimal cowbell and boy… I’M CRAZY ABOUT THE DROP!
I got a good anecdote to tell you about 67’ Gangsta Jam: When Socali listened to it, he told me “Fuck man, this track scares me!”. Ah ah ah, I can’t explain why but yes, this track is scary in a way. I guess it’s because of the Cramps’ sample.
Do you remember when I told you Rainbows’ mind was totally fucked up? Listen to the outro and you’ll understand why.
To conclude, I can say that this EP is simply Rainbows’ manifesto.

Take care and stay cool.
Fred.

Socali - The Void Anthem [WTCLRS002]

Here we are. We’re glad to present to you the second release on White Colours.

Let’s talk about Socali who made it. I first met him on the Internet (what a wonderful invention, isn’t it?) where I discovered his music. Some tracks were too weird for me but I heard other sounds that I directly loved. He first proposed a few demos to another young web-label but they refused them. Then he came to me and after asking to Clément what he thought of it, I simply said “let’s go!”.

I made my job : “this doesn’t work”, “this is awesome, keep it”, “ok but change a little bit this lead”, etc. We also deleted the Exolith from the original tracklist because it didn’t fit… But we kept the remix I did of this tune.

Now I can speak about the tracks. First, Fairy Alley: pitched vocals which sound like angels singing, deep pads and bouncy percs. Well, it’s pretty weird to say that but this track made me travel through blue and pink sugar clouds until the tune goes harder.

The Void Anthem was the first track we spoted Clément and I. I was personally crazy about the drums - and I still am. I think the principal skill of Socali is what he can do with drums.

And then: Deep Flamenco. The most nervous track on the EP. It begins with a simple but heavy kick and then let the strange bells ring out in your brain. We finally don’t know what this track is about : violent or dreamy? If you have an idea, please let us know.

Finally, the remix I made of Socali’s unknown track Exolith. I tried to share a view of an early spring on a housy beat. I don’t feel comfy to speak about my work so I’ll stop here. I just hope you’ll enjoy the track and for sure, the whole EP because it’s Socali’s first release.

Take Care

Freddy
